Entry Requirements

Applying to study at Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus is easy.

If you’re an international student, all you have to do is follow the steps below.

If you’re an Australian citizen or Permanent Resident, or a New Zealand citizen, you can apply through UAC or Western Sydney University’s Application Portal.

International application

  1. Choose your study program
  2. Check you meet, if applicable, the academic, English language and Genuine Student (GS) Test requirements.
  3. Prepare supporting documentation (Certified copies of, if applicable, your academic results, English test results, passport identification page, student visa and statement of purpose.)
  4. Apply online or through an agent representative*
  5. Accept your offer (more information about how to accept your offer)

Entry Requirements

Admission to Western Sydney University is competitive and is on the basis of academic merit. All undergraduate and postgraduate degrees have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 with no band lower than 6.0 (or equivalent).

Students applying for the Masters Qualifying Program who have an IELTS score of 6.0 (with no band lower than 5.5), or equivalent must study 10 weeks of Navitas English (EA3) at an additional cost. Visit Admissions – International for further academic entry requirements.

For entry into the undergraduate courses at the Sydney City Campus, you will be considered on the basis of your ATAR or equivalent when applying for entry to most courses. To find the ATAR for your course, use the handy ATAR search tool.

Entry to a postgraduate course at the Sydney City Campus is based on completion of a Bachelor’s degree. Additional information on course admission criteria is available in the Western Sydney University Handbook.

If you don’t meet the requirements for direct entry into Western Sydney University, don’t worry! You can still make your university dream a reality. International and domestic students may gain entry to second year of a bachelor degree at the Sydney City Campus on successful completion of a relevant SIBT Diploma. SIBT offers pathway programs and flexible entry options for students. Based in the same building as the Sydney City Campus, it’s an easy transition from SIBT to university.
