International Students

What documents do I need for my application?

Academic transcripts, English language proficiency (e.g., IELTS), passport copy, and any relevant certificates.

Do I need to apply separately for scholarships?

Scholarships are automatically applied to eligible applicants.

What is the deadline to accept my offer?

We suggest you allow two months prior to course commencement for the student visa application.

Deadlines vary by intake. Check your offer letter or contact the admissions team.

How much are the tuition fees?

Fees depend on your course. Visit the fees page for details.

Can I pay in instalments?

We do not offer instalment plans for new students. Payments are made each term based on the subjects that you are enrolled in.

What are the study requirements for my student visa?

You must maintain full-time enrolment and satisfactory academic progress. Click here for further details.

What happens if I fail a subject?

You need to repeat it if it’s a core subject. Seek academic advice immediately if needed.

Can I reduce my study load?

You must meet our student course advisor for consultation.

Can I study an online program?

Sydney City Campus does not offer an online program.

Can I defer my offer?

Yes, you can defer for up to one year based on the admission assessment. Submit a deferment request via admissions@westernsydney.edu.au.

Is there accommodation nearby?

While Western Sydney University – City Campus doesn’t offer on-campus housing, you can find nearby student accommodation here.

How can I get to campus?

There are a few public transport options. These are:

  • Town Hall Train Station
  • Town Hall light rail
  • Museum Train Station
  • Gadigal Metro Station
  • Bus (check bus stop route)

Can I change Campus/Program?

Yes, you can apply for a campus or program change once you have completed 40 credit points.

Can I access all Western facilities?

Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus, students have access to all other campus facilities.

Domestic Students

What is HSC True Reward?

HSC True Reward is Western Sydney University’s early offer program based on your Year 11 and/or Year 12 subject results, not your ATAR.

Do I need an ATAR to be eligible for HSC True Rewards?

No. You only need to complete your HSC. An ATAR is not required for HSC True Reward eligibility.

Can I get an HSC True Rewards offer from my Year 11 and Year 12 results?

Yes. Offers are made based on:

  • Year 11 results: September and November rounds.
  • Year 12 results: December and January rounds.

Do I need to meet both Year 11 and Year 12 criteria for HSC True Rewards?

No. You only need to meet the criteria relevant to the round:

  • September/November: Year 11 subject results.
  • December/January: Year 12 subject band results.

Can I receive multiple HSC True Rewards offers in one round?

No. You’ll receive one offer per round, but you can change your preferences between rounds to be considered for other degrees.

If I receive a HSC True Reward offer, can I still get an ATAR-based offer?

Yes. You can receive offers based on your ATAR from Western or other universities even if you’ve already received a HSC True Reward offer.

How will I be notified of my HSC True Rewards offer?

You’ll receive:

  • An email to the address used in your application.
  • An SMS to the mobile number you provided.

When will HSC True Rewards offers be released?

Offers are released in:

  • September & November (Year 11 results)
  • December & January (Year 12 results)
    Visit the HSC True Reward page for exact dates.

Is there a deadline to accept my offer?

  • Offers remain valid until Census Date.
  • You must enrol before Friday of Week 2 of session.
  • You can defer your offer anytime before Census Date.

Can I apply for more than one scholarship?

There is no need to apply for each individual scholarship separately. By submitting one application through the Western Sydney University scholarship form (for Indigenous, High Potential and Asylum Seeker Scholarships), and one application through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC)  Equity Scholarships form (for Equity Scholarships) your eligibility will be assessed for each available scholarship in that category.

Can I transfer courses and retain my scholarship?

In some instances, you will be able to transfer courses and retain your scholarship. Refer to the Terms and Conditions of your scholarship, or contact the Scholarships Unit for advice regarding whether you can transfer courses and retain your scholarship.

What are the requirements to apply?

You must be:

  • Completing the HSC in NSW.
  • An Australian citizen, permanent resident, or NZ citizen.

How are applications assessed?

Based on your subject performance, not your ATAR. Each course has specific subject band criteria.

When do applications close?

Application deadlines vary by round. Check the HSC True Reward timeline for details.

Where can I find my HSC Student Number?

Your school will provide it, or you can find it on your NESA student account.

I’m an international student, can I apply for HSC True Reward?

Only if you apply via UAC International. You must be eligible through that pathway.

I’m studying the International Baccalaureate (IB), am I eligible?

  • IB students are not eligible for HSC True Reward.
  • However, if you’re an Australian/NZ citizen or permanent resident, you may be eligible for:
    • Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS)
    • Subject and regional bonus points
