The Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is a professional course that will provide you with solid skills and a knowledge base in ICT.
It will provide you with the skills to apply practical solutions to ICT including systems analysis and design, application development, program design, networks, web development and the implementation of technology.
This course requires successful completion of 240 credit points which includes twelve core subjects, and eight elective subjects which can be chosen from any discipline available at Sydney City Campus.
Students undertaking a major need to complete the specific major subjects in place of some elective subjects. Majors available :
At Sydney City Campus, you can complete your three-year bachelor’s degree in as little as two years and enter the workforce sooner. A bachelor’s degree usually consists of 24 subjects. With our flexible academic calendar, you can study 12 subjects in one year over three trimesters. However, we recommend that you undertake a maximum of 3 subjects per trimester so that your study load is not too demanding. You will have less downtime between trimesters so a lighter study load will help you to have a better chance at passing all of your subjects.
As a graduate of the Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology degree, you can look forward to career opportunities, such as network administrator or engineer, systems architect, systems integrator, database administrator or programmer, web analyst, community/ commercial web systems designer/ developer, software quality analyst, business programmer, software engineer analyst, systems developer, games developer, and information systems manager.
This course offers the opportunity to interact with industry partners, offering valuable insight and networking opportunities. During the course you will have the opportunity to work on an industry-based problem, hear from guest lectures and visit course-relevant industry sites.

In this major, students learn how to create high quality software to meet client needs. This involves applying the theories and practices of software development to determine requirements, design and deliver solutions. In this software development lifecycle process, students use a range of technologies, and programming skills used for the development of software systems and distributed applications. In addition, students develop the ability to identify, analyse, and formulate solutions to real-world problems in the software development domain. In devising these solutions students also consider principles associated with user interface design, professional and ethical issues, in particular those relating to security and privacy of user data and user behaviour related to software development and associated applications.

Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking
Cyber Security is an essential aspect of today’s information systems. The Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking major aims to develop graduates with skills in network security, cloud security, and information security, in the ethical and legal aspects of activities in cyber space. With the widespread use of networked systems, protecting these systems from various attacks is more important than ever. Students apply system security knowledge and security protocols, from basic cryptography algorithms to their applications, in computer systems, networked systems, blockchain technologies and crypto currencies. Students learn how to analyse security vulnerabilities and to implement cybersecurity solutions using ethical hacking techniques and following legal and professional standards.
