International Student Scholarship

Support your studies with a Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus International Student Scholarship. We help students to achieve their academic ambitions and personal goals while recognising and rewarding top talent.

All international student applications to study at Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus will automatically be considered for a scholarship.

Value

The Sydney City Campus is offering $6,000 and $3,000 multi-year scholarships to new commencing international students enrolling in undergraduate degree programs for 2026*.

  • $6,000 per year. Up to three years maximum, to the value of $18,000 or;
  • $3,000 per year. Up to three years maximum, to the value of $9,000.

All successful applicants will receive a minimum scholarship valued at $3,000. The $6,000 value will be awarded dependent on your level of academic achievement in previous studies.

Courses

This applies to any undergraduate degree available to study at the Sydney City Campus.

Selection

If successful, your scholarship offer will be outlined in your offer of admission letter.

Selection will be based on academic achievement in a completed Year 12 qualification or equivalent recognised by Western Sydney University for admission.

Applicants must:

  • be an international student and not an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or permanent resident of Australia. If your visa status changes to one of these during the study period, the scholarship will discontinue.
  • commence a new course of study in 2026 at Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus for the first time.
  • be studying in a CRICOS registered undergraduate degree program.
  • satisfy the academic eligibility requirements for either the $6,000 or $3,000 multi-year scholarship.
  • satisfy all other admission requirements and accept their admission offer.

Applicants are not eligible if they:

  • are a citizen of Australia or New Zealand, or hold permanent residency in Australia.
  • are a study abroad or an exchange student coming to the University.
  • are currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at Western Sydney University.
  • do not commence study in the session and year indicated in their offer. Commencement may not be deferred.
  • have been granted more than 160 credit points advanced standing. (Note: In the event of advanced standing, the scholarship will apply to the reduced duration of the course and will not exceed the annual value of the scholarship in any one year of full-time study).
  • study less than 80 credit points to complete the course.
  • are applying to study a program at another Western Sydney University campus.
  • have been awarded another scholarship by the University or another organisation that covers the cost of the tuition fees (fully or partially) to study at Western Sydney University.

Conditions

  • Students applying via articulation pathways through partner universities will be considered for a scholarship according to marginally different criteria.
  • Awards are granted on the basis of academic merit.
  • Scholarships applies to self-funded applicants only.

Acceptance process

Scholarships will be granted on a first come first served basis until filled. If you are awarded a scholarship, accept your offer as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Your initial scholarship will be applied to your Western student account after census date of your first session/quarter. Your 2nd and 3rd instalments (if applicable) will be applied to your student account once you have completed the subsequent 80 and 160 credit points of your degree.

You must maintain a minimum enrolment of 3 units in each session and a cumulative GPA of 4 or higher for the duration of the scholarship.

Application information

No separate application is necessary. You will be automatically considered for a scholarship when you apply to study at Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus.

Other costs

The scholarship is a tuition fee waiver and does not cover costs associated with living expenses, accommodation, transport, overseas student health cover or other costs associated with study. The recipient will be paid the scholarship value in their WSU student fee account and not the recipient’s bank account.

  • $6,000 per year. Up to two years maximum, to the value of $12,000 or;
  • $3,000 per year. Up to two years maximum, to the value of $6,000.

The value awarded will be dependent on your level of academic achievement from your previous studies.

Courses

Applies to any CRICOS registered 1, 1.5 or 2 year postgraduate coursework degree available to study at the Sydney City Campus.

Selection

If successful, your scholarship offer will be outlined in your offer of admission letter.

Applicants must also:

  • be an international student and not an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or permanent resident of Australia. If your visa status changes to one of these during the study period, the scholarship will discontinue.
  • commence a new course of study in 2026 at Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus for the first time.
  • satisfy the academic eligibility requirements for either of the multi-year scholarships in their most recent completed tertiary qualification recognised by Western Sydney University.
  • satisfy all other admission requirements and accept their admission offer.

Applicants are not eligible if they:

  • are a citizen of Australia or New Zealand, or hold permanent residency in Australia.
  • are a study abroad or an exchange student coming to the University.
  • are currently enrolled at Western Sydney University.
  • do not commence study in the session and year indicated in their offer. Commencement may not be deferred.
  • do not submit a fully completed application and/or acceptance.
  • have been granted more than 80 credit points advanced standing. (Note: In the event of advanced standing, the scholarship will apply to the reduced duration of the course and will not exceed the annual value of the scholarship in any one year of full-time study.)
  • study less than 80 credit points to complete the course.
  • are applying to study a program at another Western Sydney University campus.
  • have been awarded another scholarship by the University or another organisation that covers the cost of the tuition fees (fully or partially) to study at Western Sydney University.
  • are enrolling in a higher degree research program eg. PhD.

International Regional Achievement Award

Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus International Regional Achievement Award supports eligible international students from Southeast Asia and North Asia commencing undergraduate or postgraduate study at Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus in 2026.

All eligible international student applications will be automatically considered for this award.

Value

The Sydney City Campus is offering $10,000 and $5,000 multi-year scholarships to new commencing international students from Southeast Asia and North Asia enrolling in undergraduate degree programs for 2026*.

  • $10,000 per year, up to the duration of the program (multi-year scholarship), or;
  • $5,000 per year, up to the duration of the program (multi-year scholarship).

The value awarded will be dependent on your level of academic achievement in previous studies.

Courses

This applies to any CRICOS registered undergraduate degree available at the Sydney City Campus.

Selection

If successful, your scholarship offer will be outlined in your offer of admission letter.

Selection will be based on academic achievement in a completed Year 12 qualification or equivalent recognised by Western Sydney University for admission.

Applicants must:

  • be an international student holding a subclass 500 visa at commencement
  • apply for and commence an eligible CRICOS registered undergraduate program at the Sydney City Campus in a 2026 intake
  • be a citizen of Southeast Asia or North Asia
  • not be receiving another scholarship provided by Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus or SIBT that covers tuition fees
  • not hold more than 160 credit points (cp) of advanced standing
  • have at least 80 credit points remaining to complete the program
  • be a genuine student with intent to pursue study at Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus

Applicants are not eligible if they:

  • are a citizen of Australia or New Zealand, or hold permanent residency in Australia.
  • are a study abroad or exchange student.
  • are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at Western Sydney University.
  • do not commence study in the session and year indicated in their offer (commencement cannot be deferred).
  • have been granted more than 160 credit points advanced standing.
  • have less than 80 credit points remaining to complete their course.
  • are applying to study at another Western Sydney University campus.
  • have been awarded another scholarship covering tuition fees (fully or partially).

Conditions

  • maintain a cumulative GPA of 4.0 for the duration of their enrolment
  • maintain full-time study load (minimum 30 credit points per trimester or equivalent)
  • remain enrolled at Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus (not transferable to other campuses)
  • notify the Sydney City Campus in advance of any change affecting enrolment including study load, program change, leave of absence, withdrawal, visa status change or health status change

Failure to meet conditions may result in reassessment or withdrawal of the scholarship and repayment of scholarship amounts.

  • have been granted more than 80 credit points advanced standing.
  • have less than 80 credit points remaining to complete their course.

  • have been awarded another scholarship covering tuition fees (fully or partially).
  • are enrolling in a higher degree research program (e.g. PhD).

Conditions

Recipients must:

  • maintain a cumulative GPA of 4.0 for the duration of their enrolment
  • Maintain full-time or accumulated full-time equivalent study load (average minimum 30cp study load per Trimester or 20cp study load per Quarter at census)
  • remain enrolled at Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus (not transferable to other campuses)
  • notify the Sydney City Campus in advance of any change affecting enrolment including study load, program change, leave of absence, withdrawal, visa status change or health status change
